Unlike a christening, a celebrant-led naming ceremony is completely personal and non-religious (unless you’d like gentle spiritual elements included).
There are:
- no set words
- no formal rules.
- no predetermined structure
Just a ceremony created around your child and the promises you want to make to them.
You might choose to:
- Share the story of their arrival
- Introduce or 'Guide-parents' or supporting adults
- Make promises as parents
- Include siblings in a special way
- Light candles, plant a tree, or create a symbolic family ritual
Every element is chosen because it means something to you.

As a midwife, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside families at the very beginning of life.
I understand just how profound (and sometimes overwhelming) those early days can be.
A naming ceremony is a joyful, grounding way to mark this new chapter with intention, celebration and love.
And yes - There can be laughter.
There can be happy tears.
There can absolutely be wiggly toddlers stealing the spotlight.
